Communtiy PlanThe Branford Early Childhood Collaborative is a public-private partnership supported by Graustein Memorial Fund (GMF) with the investment of and the State Department of Education (SDE) and the Children's Fund of CT and local community investment. Our community has been working for three years bringing together all collaborating partners to create a Community Blueprint for Branford of children birth through age 8 and their families. This plan reflects the unique needs and characteristics in Branford. It creates a local framework for collaboration and accountability in response to family needs across the domains of early care, early education, social, emotional and physical health, safety and family support. BECC is what is referred to in collective impact circles as a "backbone organization", as are Local Early Childhood Councils across the country. Local Early Childhood Councils support and sustain effective and efficient policies and programs that address the needs of children and families who reside in the community. Branford Early Childhood Collaborative works to convene the various players and engaging the community, to make sure that the pieces work in concert, breaking down silos to provide a seamless, interconnected system that supports all young children and their families. Our work is data-driven with Results-Based Accountability (RBA), based on improved outcomes. The stakeholders agree on common indicators, a way to measure performance and strategies to move the needle. This 94 page plan, published in July 2012, is what we learned through working together but is meant to be a fluid document, as needs and community situations evolve.
